In the tide of modern science and technology, there is a low-dielectric polymer material. Under the reflective surface of the satellite antenna, it is a transparent "signal escort", allowing millimeter waves to penetrate with almost zero loss; in the shell of the missile guidance system, it is a stable "electromagnetic barrier" to ensure the accurate transmission of navigation signals in a complex electromagnetic environment; and in the vacuum chamber of the electron cyclotron resonance ion source, it is the "high-voltage guardian", supporting the operation of the entire device with its excellent insulation performance. It is XCPS cross-linked polystyrene, which is not an ordinary engineering plastic, but an optically transparent polymer organic material, belonging to a thermosetting resin. Its excellent performance makes it stand out among many materials and become an important boost to the development of science and technology.

In the research and development of electron cyclotron resonance ion sources, XCPS cross-linked polystyrene has played a key role. The XCPS cross-linked polystyrene produced by Shenzhen Keruiwo has amazing dielectric properties. In the wide frequency range of 1MHz to 500GHz, it can maintain a dielectric constant of 2.5 and an extremely low dielectric loss factor of 0.0005. This means that in scenarios with extremely high requirements for high-frequency signal transmission and electromagnetic compatibility, XCPS cross-linked polystyrene can ensure stable signal transmission, reduce energy loss, and provide solid guarantees for the high-performance operation of electronic equipment.

The electron cyclotron resonance ion source is a device that uses microwave energy to heat electrons in a magnetic field, so that they absorb energy through resonance to ionize the working gas, thereby producing a high-charge ion beam. The high-voltage device includes components such as the plasma chamber, plasma aperture, electrodes, flanges, XCPS insulators, end plugs, and sextupole magnets. The plasma chamber and sextupole assembly are isolated from the ground by a pair of XCPS insulators, and the vacuum seal is completed by the ID of the steel solenoid plug on the O-ring. Once the high-voltage assembly is installed, the hand crank can ensure that the O-ring is properly sealed with the XCPS, thereby ensuring the stable operation of the entire device.

The core principle of the electron cyclotron resonance ion source is that when the frequency of the microwave fed is equal to the cyclotron frequency of the electron in the static magnetic field, the electron undergoes cyclotron resonance to absorb energy, and the gas is efficiently ionized to form a high-density plasma. Its main features and technological advances include high-performance advantages, such as high plasma density (up to 10¹⁸–10²⁰/m³), high beam intensity, high ion charge state, and stable and reliable performance. The cathode-free design avoids the problem of cathode loss and extends the service life. In terms of key structures, the magnetic confinement system usually adopts a "minimum B field" configuration of a combination of an axial magnetic mirror field and a radial multipole field to effectively confine the plasma in the arc cavity. The microwave feed adopts advanced design and the same-frequency dual-waveguide technology to achieve efficient coupling of high-power microwaves to the plasma. The extraction system often uses multi-stage electrodes (acceleration-deceleration) to extract the ion beam, and suppresses electron reflux through the negative potential of the anode.

The fourth generation of superconducting high-charge ECR ion sources (such as FECR) use a "cold iron" superconducting magnet structure and a three-dimensional optimized magnetic field to significantly increase the magnetic field strength and microwave frequency. The beam intensity is more than twice that of similar international devices, solving the key bottleneck of the next generation of high-current heavy ion accelerators. Its application areas are very wide. In basic research, it provides high-current, high-charge heavy ion beams for nuclear physics, nuclear astrophysics, and atomic physics; in the field of industry and materials, it is used for ion implantation, material surface modification, thin film deposition, ion etching, etc.; in the field of aerospace simulation, it is used for ground-based simulation of atomic oxygen irradiation effects and evaluation of spacecraft material performance.

The fourth-generation superconducting ion source (FECR) has completed the preparation of core superconducting magnets, full-scale real machine assembly and system integration, and has entered the installation and commissioning stage. In the future, it will play a more important role in multidisciplinary research and inject strong impetus into my country's scientific and technological development. As a key material, XCPS cross-linked polystyrene will continue to shine on the scientific and technological stage and help innovation and breakthroughs in more fields.
