After achieving stable mass production and delivery of 1—3.5-meter cross-linked polystyrene insulation rings, Shenzhen Keliwo Technology has advanced the development of 5.5-meter ultra-large diameter XCPS insulation rings. Once successfully developed, this product will enter the first tier of globally integrated molded同类 materials, precisely matching the engineering development needs of next-generation large-diameterZ-pinchnuclear fusion devices.

Constrained by external factors, fusion components encounter bottlenecks

High-power ultra-largecross-linked polystyreneinsulation components are indispensable core parts in cutting-edge fields such as Z-pinch controlled nuclear fusion and high-power pulsed accelerators. Among them, the high-voltage insulation stack of Z-pinch devices operates under harsh conditions, requiring components to withstand megavolt-level high voltage, intense radiation exposure, and adapt to long-term operation in a cross-environment of high vacuum andliquid dielectric. The insulation ring has always been the weakest link most prone to failure in the entire system.

For a long time, the global supply of high-end cross-linked polystyrene insulation materials has been highly concentrated. Domestic related scientific research projects have long faced challenges such as unstable supply, foreign controls, high costs, and uncontrollable delivery cycles, hindering the development progress of domestic fusion devices.

It is widely recognized in the industry that the integrated molding of large-size cross-linked polystyrene is a major challenge. The larger the size, the higher the production difficulty. Three major pain points—poor material uniformity, internal stress imbalance, and uncontrolled product deformation—have long plagued the domestic industry. Previously, most domestic related equipment could only use small-size components, significantly compromising engineering stability.

Independent R&D breaks through the entire chain, achieving technological autonomy

Keliwo Technology has deeply cultivated the field of cross-linked polystyrene materials. After years of technological breakthroughs, it has successively overcome key processes such as raw material purification, segmented precise polymerization, and additive-free molding, opening up a fully domestic production chain covering material formulation, raw material preparation, and mass production processing, establishing an independent and controllable material technology system.

At this stage, the company's industrialization capabilities have gradually improved: the production line forXCPS insulation ringswith diameters ranging from 1 meter to 3.5 meters is mature and capable of large-scale delivery; some specifications of products have been installed in batches and put into routine operation in domestic large-scale Z-pinch insulation stacks. User feedback indicates that the self-developed XCPS material exhibits excellent performance in voltage withstand, dielectric stability, radiation resistance, and discharge endurance, with all core parameters fully meeting the standards for extreme operating conditions.

Seizing the opportunity, leading the next generation of fusion

Relying on existing mass production technology accumulation, Keliwo has launched a special project to tackle the 5.5-meter ultra-large insulation ring. Currently, the project has broken through key process bottlenecks, core parameters are under control, and the R&D progress is in line with expectations. Compared with mature small and medium-sized products, the 5.5-meter specification is no longer a routine scale-up of mass production but a breakthrough in the physical limits of material molding, tailored to meet the rigid demands of next-generation fusion experimental platforms and large-scale pulsed power equipment development. XCPS cross-linked polystyrene is Keliwo's self-developed specialized insulation material, combining multiple functions of insulation, voltage equalization, and structural support, suitable for the high-voltage vacuum extreme conditions of fusion devices.

Currently, the pace of global fusion R&D is accelerating. The Z-pinch route, with its advantages of simple structure, no need for superconducting magnets, and high operational safety, has become the mainstream technical direction second only to magnetic confinement. The industry predicts that after 2030, it may gradually achieve commercial power supply, leading to a concentrated wave of upgrades for global experimental devices, and the demand for large-size, high-voltage-resistant insulation components will continue to rise.

In line with the global trend of domesticating clean energy, Keliwo Technology, leveraging the complete independent intellectual property rights of XCPS® cross-linked polystyrene material, along with a full-chain self-developed system and mature large-size mass production capabilities, is reshaping the landscape of the high-end insulation supply chain. We are not only committed to breaking international monopolies, significantly reducing engineering procurement costs and supply cycles, and filling gaps in national strategic industries, but also, by relying on the technological momentum from the 5.5-meter extreme challenge, we aim to seize the market high ground for next-generation fusion supporting materials.

Currently, the development of the 5.5-meter insulation ring has achieved phased breakthroughs. The project is steadily advancing towards process solidification and verification under harsh conditions. This marks that China's fusion insulation materials have moved away from the passive situation of simply benchmarking and filling gaps, entering a new phase of transitioning from "basic domestic catch-up" to "parallel tackling of ultra-large specifications." Keliwo Technology is proving through concrete actions that this seemingly unremarkable specialized insulation ring is precisely a key component in solidifying the security of the nationalcontrolled nuclear fusiondual-route industrial chain.
